Prepaid credits, and nothing that renews

There is no monthly plan. You buy credits, they sit on the account until you spend them, and they do not expire. A card that renews is a payment method a large share of our customers do not have, so a subscription would have been a decision to serve only the rest.

The arithmetic

What a credit is worth

One credit is $0.0001, which keeps every charge an integer and means no balance is ever a rounded float. This is the same arithmetic the meter runs.

0.6944

credits per second of audio

Rounded up to a whole second, then to a whole credit.

0.12

credits per character

Counted after normalisation.

40

credits per second of video

Subtitle rendering, where the cost is the render rather than the model.

10,000

credits per US dollar

So the $10 pack is 100,000 credits, and no price needs a decimal in the ledger.

Charges round up to a whole credit, so a call is never silently rounded to nothing. Free units reset on the first instant of each calendar month in UTC, and because they are always spent first there is no second counter to drift out of step with your usage events.

What a prepaid model has to answer

Most pricing questions assume a subscription. These are the ones that actually apply here.

Two free hours of audio a month, and no card to start

Read the quickstart, make a call, and see what it cost in the response. Buy credits only once the free allowance runs out.
